ABL Space Systems loses rocket and pad in debut

On January 10th, taking off from Zodiak, Alaska, ABL Systems suffered a rocket failure shortly after take off which resulted in the rocket falling back to the pad and destroying it. Reporting from @ABLSpacesystems via Twitter:

ABL Spacesystems uses an engine modeled after the RS1 from the Saturn V days with gas generator cycle for the engine. Gas generator cycles are one of the most common used power cycle in bipropellant liquid rocket engines, and they chose it for simplicity of design.

ABL Spacesystems was founded in 2017, by former SpaceX engineers, ABL Space systems hopes to become a niche rocket launch company with transportable launchpads, and highly transportable rockets, designed specifically to fit into shipping containers.
